Starts: October 13, 2018 (10:30 am - 12:30 pm)
West Norwood Cemetery and Crematorium
“Awareness of death is the very bedrock of the path. Until you have developed this awareness, all other practices are useless.”Dalai Lama
We will start the morning with a 15-minute guided historical walk to learn more about some of the 64 listed monuments of outstanding architecture, such as the stunning Greek enclosure. You will be able to enjoy some beautiful sculptures, horticultural art and precious monuments like the pink granite obelisk where Baron Julias de Reuter lies (founder of Reuters news agency) – en route to a peaceful yoga spot where we will gather for a 75-minute practice in nature.
Daria will lead an all-level, mindful slow flow to honour the energy that surrounds us, honouring those that came before us, and connecting with the animal kingdom, the plant kingdom and the mineral kingdom as sources of healing, guidance and companionship. The class will be an invitation to explore the bridge between the physical and the spiritual. In the words of the Dalai Lama: “Awareness of death is the very bedrock of the path. Until you have developed this awareness, all other practices are useless.”
West Norwood Cemetery is not simply a place of burial, but also a stunning natural ground for all to enjoy. Local residents today use it as a park, basking in the natural surroundings for walks and picnics, or as a place to escape and relax.
All levels are welcome. Please bring your own yoga mat and arrive 10 minutes early – late arrivals may be turned away. We recommend to bring warm clothes and a rain jacket in case of light rain. In case of bad weather the event may be cancelled and full refunds will be issued. Please check your email the morning of the event for confirmation.
Please show your confirmation ticket on arrival. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations, no shows or late arrivals. Space is limited, so please book early as we expect to reach capacity.
